1. Controller
Solidas GmbH, Obere Paulistrasse 8, 8834 Schindellegi, Switzerland. Email: hello@uhrenkontor.ch.
This policy follows the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). For visitors from the EEA we additionally observe the principles of the GDPR.
2. What data we process
- Purchase form data: details of the watch (brand, model, reference, year of manufacture, condition, scope of delivery, remarks), photos and videos, name, postcode and town, mobile number, email address, preferred way to be contacted, optional price expectation, time of consent, IP address and browser information. In addition, where your visit came from: campaign tags in the address (UTM parameters), the first page you visited and the domain of the referring page (for example a search engine), without the path. If your visit comes from an advert (Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising or Meta), we store the click identifier that the advertising network adds to the address together with your enquiry for no more than 90 days, in order to measure the success of our adverts. Meta also adds such an identifier to ordinary links from Facebook and Instagram; we store these as well. We pass on to the advertising network only the identifier with the time and value of an enquiry or a purchase, without your name or contact details. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring the success of our advertising.
- Offer page: when an offer is accepted we store the time, the IP address and the version of the terms and conditions for evidentiary purposes; when it is declined, the time and, if given, the reason. We store your answer to the follow-up question as proof, together with its date and time, the language and the version of the wording.
- Trade-in and wishlist enquiries: details of the watch offered, models sought, name, WhatsApp number, optionally email address, postcode and town.
- Purchase requests: if you request to buy a watch on its page, we store the watch concerned, your name, your mobile number, your preferred way to be contacted (WhatsApp, phone call or email), optionally your email address, the language of the page and the IP address. We use these details only to handle your request and get back to you.
- WhatsApp contacts: with your consent we store your number and your name in order to show you new offers via WhatsApp (including in the WhatsApp status).
- Newsletter: email address, time of sign-up and confirmation, IP address.
- Usage data: we use Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool that does not create personal profiles. In addition we record anonymous usage events (for example «form started», or the page viewed together with the referring domain and device type) with a random session identifier that is valid for 30 minutes. On its own it allows no conclusions about your person. If you submit the purchase form, we link the events of that session to your enquiry so that we can see where your visit came from (referring domain, first page visited).
- Error data: if a technical error occurs on the website, we report it to Sentry, our error monitoring service. The report contains technical details only: the affected place in the program code, the page viewed and the technical steps shortly before, the time, browser and operating system. We do not transmit names, email addresses, telephone numbers, form contents or personal links, and IP addresses are neither transmitted nor stored. Sentry does not record your visit and does not track you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a properly working website.
3. Purpose and legal basis
- Preparing a purchase offer and handling the purchase (initiation and performance of a contract).
- Passing on the watch details and photos, without your contact details, to our partner dealers for valuation. Your identity is not disclosed to the dealers.
- Contacting you by WhatsApp or email, according to your choice, and also by phone for purchase requests.
- Handling your request to buy a watch from our stock (steps prior to entering into a contract).
- Follow-up: If you decline an offer or it expires, we ask whether we may get in touch again about this watch, for example if a dealer is looking for exactly your model, or to ask whether you would still like to sell. If you agree, we will contact you via the channel you chose (WhatsApp or email) no more than three times within 12 months, and only about this watch. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, for example by replying “stop” or via “Change answer” on your offer page.
- Marketing (newsletter, WhatsApp offers) only with your express consent, revocable at any time.
- Operation and security of the website, detecting technical errors, protection against misuse (legitimate interest).
- Measuring the success of our adverts if your visit came from an advert (legitimate interest): the click identifier with the time and value of an enquiry or a purchase, without your name or contact details.
- Compliance with legal obligations, in particular duties of care in trading in second-hand valuables.
4. Retention periods
- Enquiries and offers: 24 months after completion, then deletion or anonymisation, provided no statutory retention obligation applies.
- Details of the watch without personal data (brand, model, reference, year, condition, what comes with it, region by the first two digits of the postcode) are used for anonymous market statistics; these anonymised details are kept after the retention period ends.
- Photos and videos: 12 months after completion of the enquiry.
- WhatsApp contacts and newsletter: until revoked.
- We keep your answer to the follow-up question (with its date and time) together with your request. Consent to follow-up is valid for 12 months.
- Click identifier of an advert: no more than 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Purchase and sale records: 10 years (statutory retention obligation).

6. WhatsApp
If you contact us via WhatsApp or choose WhatsApp as the way to be contacted, data is transferred to WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, including to countries outside Switzerland and the EEA. WhatsApp’s privacy terms apply. You may switch to email as the way to be contacted at any time.
7. Cookies
This website uses no marketing or tracking cookies. Technically necessary cookies are set only in the administration area (log-in) and for the anonymous session identifier. A cookie banner is therefore not required.
So that you can continue the purchase form later, your browser stores the details of the watch and references to photos already uploaded locally (localStorage). Contact details such as name, email, telephone number or address are not included. This draft stays in your browser and is used for no more than 48 hours. After that, our website deletes it the next time you visit; once you submit the form, it is deleted immediately. You can delete it yourself with «Start again» in the form.
So that we can store where your visit came from together with an enquiry, your browser remembers on the first page you visit the campaign tags, that first page, the domain of the referring page and, if present, the click identifier of an advert (sessionStorage). This information stays in your browser until you close the tab. We only receive the click identifier if you submit an enquiry; our website then deletes it from your browser straight away.
8. Your rights
You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, as well as the right to revoke consent given at any time. To do so, please contact hello@uhrenkontor.ch. You may also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
9. Amendments
We adapt this policy as required. The version published on the website at the time applies.
