Sell your Breitling in Switzerland
More than 25 dealers value your watch. You receive the best offer within 12 hours, free and without obligation.
Describe your Breitling in three minutes.
Selling a Breitling in Switzerland works best through a buyer who compares bids from several dealers, because demand swings sharply by line, movement and generation. Value depends on the reference, the calibre, whether in-house B01 or a supplied movement, as well as condition, completeness and any remaining warranty. Navitimer, Chronomat and Superocean are the sought-after lines.
Uhrenkontor is a platform of Solidas GmbH, entered in the commercial register of the canton of Schwyz with its registered office in Schindellegi SZ. Over 25 partner dealers across Switzerland assess your Breitling from watch data and photos; your contact details stay with Uhrenkontor. On working days the highest bid reaches you within 12 hours as a binding offer, free of charge, without obligation and valid for several days.
What determines the value of a Breitling?
In-house calibre B01 or a supplied movement
Breitling presented the calibre B01 in 2009, an automatic column-wheel chronograph with around 70 hours of power reserve, first used in the Chronomat and from 2011 in the Navitimer as well. Models with the B01 or movements derived from it enjoy broader demand on the secondary market than older watches with modified ETA or Valjoux calibres.
Navitimer references and generations
The Navitimer was developed in 1952 for the pilots' association AOPA and has carried the slide rule on its bezel ever since. On the secondary market, vintage references such as the 806, the models of the 1990s and 2000s, and the current B01 generation are all assessed separately.
COSC certification and technical condition
Breitling has its movements certified as chronometers by the COSC, the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. When you sell, dealers check the rate values, the action of the chronograph pushers and the bezel, and the water resistance, because many Breitling watches are worn as sports and pilots' watches.
Completeness and remaining warranty
The full set comprises the original box, warranty card or chronometer certificate, manual, spare strap and purchase receipt. A warranty still running is an argument for resale. Without papers a purchase remains possible; the dealers then examine reference and serial number more closely from the photos and at handover. What can replace a missing certificate is covered in Selling a watch without papers.
Which Breitling models are most in demand?
The Navitimer is the brand's best-known model and is sought after in every generation. Particular interest goes to the Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43, the classic versions with a black dial and well-preserved hand-wound vintage models. With old Navitimer watches, the originality of dial and bezel is decisive.
The Chronomat was designed in 1984 for the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori and relaunched in 2020 with the Rouleaux bracelet. The current Chronomat B01 42 in steel or two-tone and the Chronomat Automatic in 36 and 32 mm have a broad audience. Models from the 1990s with the rider-tab bezel are also purchased, depending on condition.
The Superocean goes back to the diving watches of 1957. The Superocean Heritage with its vintage design and the sporting Superocean Automatic in 42 or 44 mm are in demand. Chronographs and limited colour variants are assessed separately.
The Premier appeared in 1943 as the elegant line and was relaunched in 2018. Chronographs with the B01 and the Premier Heritage with vintage-style dials are the sought-after versions; the case material accounts for a large share of the value.
The Avenger is the robust sports line from 43 to 48 mm. Chronographs with the B01 and models in titanium or with the Night Mission coating find buyers, while very large cases appeal to a smaller group.
How selling your Breitling works
- Fill in the form: In around 3 minutes you enter model, reference, condition, completeness and the warranty date and upload photos.
- Valuation by over 25 partner dealers: Dealers only ever see watch data and photos, never your contact details. On working days the highest bid reaches you within 12 hours as a binding offer.
- Decide without pressure: The offer is valid for several days, free of charge and without obligation. It applies subject to condition, authenticity and completeness matching your description.
- Handover in person and payment: Handover anywhere in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, for example at a bank branch, a notary's office, your workplace or your home. After the check, payment follows in cash, by bank transfer or by Twint, as you prefer. Where something differs, you receive an adjusted offer at no cost.
How to recognise a reputable buyer
A reputable buyer states the validity of the offer, the inspection procedure and the payment route before you meet. With a Breitling, they recognise from the reference whether an in-house calibre is fitted, and assess vintage models by originality rather than by shine.
Check the company: a commercial register entry, a legal notice and a contactable address are the minimum standard. Anyone working through anonymous listings, pushing for a quick decision or asking you to send the watch in advance "for inspection" does not deserve your trust.
Pay attention to the payment route. Payment should be traceable and documented: cash against a signed receipt and purchase contract, bank transfer or Twint. A handover at a bank branch or a notary's office protects both sides, and at a bank you can deposit cash straight away.
A comparison of authorised retailer, independent dealer, online platform and auction house is set out in the guide to selling a watch in Switzerland and under how it works.

Selling a Breitling.
Can I sell my Breitling without box and papers?
Yes, Uhrenkontor buys Breitling watches without box and papers. The partner dealers check reference, serial number and movement from the photos and at handover. Warranty card, chronometer certificate and original box make resale easier and are normally rated higher by dealers than the watch alone.
Should I have my Breitling overhauled before selling it?
No, a service before the sale is not necessary. Uhrenkontor also buys Breitling watches that are due for servicing, and the dealers take condition into account in their bid. An overhaul paid for yourself is rarely recovered in full on sale. Existing service records from Breitling should be included.
Do you buy vintage Navitimer and limited Breitling editions?
Yes, vintage Navitimer, older Chronomat or Top Time models and limited editions are purchased, provided the market value is above roughly CHF 3,000. With vintage watches the originality of dial, bezel and movement counts; with limited runs the numbering and certificate. Describe origin and condition precisely in the form.
How quickly do I receive an offer for my Breitling?
On working days you receive the highest bid from the over 25 partner dealers within 12 hours as a binding offer. It is valid for several days, free of charge and without obligation, and applies subject to condition, authenticity and completeness matching the description at handover.
How can I tell whether my Breitling has the in-house calibre B01?
The reference on the warranty card or the case back usually begins with AB01 or a similar code on models with an in-house calibre; on many watches the calibre is also printed on the dial or visible through the display back. Give the full reference in the form so dealers can identify the movement.
Do I have to pay tax on the proceeds of a Breitling sale?
Capital gains on movable private assets are generally tax-free in Switzerland. Commercial dealing is the exception, which the tax authority may assume with frequent buying and selling. This is not legal or tax advice; if in doubt, contact your cantonal tax office or a fiduciary.
Why do I get less for my Breitling than the listings on Chrono24?
A listing is an offer, not an achieved selling price. Breitling models from different generations often look alike but use different movements, such as the Navitimer with an in-house chronograph calibre versus versions with a sourced base movement. The exact reference matters. A dealer ties up capital, checks the watch, carries warranty, marketing and price risk, and needs a margin.
Why listing prices on Chrono24, Ricardo or Tutti sit above the buying price
