Sell your watch in Schwyz
Handover in person, offer within 12 hours from more than 25 dealer bids.
Describe your watch, handover in Schwyz.
Anyone in Schwyz with a luxury watch to sell receives the highest bid from more than 25 partner dealers in Switzerland as a binding offer, within 12 hours on working days. The valuation is free, without obligation and made from photographs and details. The handover takes place in person in the canton, from the valley basin out to the March.
The canton of Schwyz has no watch industry of its own and only a handful of jewellers in the cantonal capital. Someone selling a Rolex, Omega or Breitling has until now usually driven to Lucerne or Zurich. For Uhrenkontor, though, the canton is home ground: the operating company is entered in the commercial register of the canton of Schwyz, and appointments between Küssnacht, Brunnen, Einsiedeln and Lachen are part of ordinary weeks. The region is better known for the Charter Museum, the abbey at Einsiedeln and the rail junction at Arth-Goldau than for watches.
How is the canton of Schwyz organised?
Where you live in the canton changes nothing about the process. When dealing with the authorities, for example after an inheritance, it still helps to know which municipality and district a place belongs to. The Municipal Organisation Act divides the canton into six districts:
- District of Schwyz: 15 municipalities, including Schwyz, Arth, Ingenbohl, Steinen, Muotathal and Rothenthurm. Brunnen belongs to the municipality of Ingenbohl, Goldau to the municipality of Arth.
- Gersau, Einsiedeln and Küssnacht: district and municipality in one. Here the district bodies also carry out the functions of the municipality.
- March and Höfe: the two districts on upper Lake Zurich, with nine municipalities in the March and three in the Höfe.
- Arth-Goldau junction: the station is in the centre of Goldau. Lines from Basel, Lucerne, Zurich and Ticino meet the Südostbahn line towards eastern Switzerland here. Buses link the municipality of Arth with Schwyz, Brunnen and Küssnacht, among other places.
Local facts on the Höfe and March districts, and on notaries, tax and inheritance in the canton of Schwyz, are on the page on selling a watch in Pfäffikon SZ; how the sale of an inherited watch works is explained in the guide to selling an inherited watch.

Where does the handover take place in Schwyz?
The meeting is arranged once the offer has been accepted. Usual choices are a bank branch on the main square in Schwyz or in Brunnen, your office or practice, or your home. In a small place, a handover at home is for many the most discreet solution; a bank in a neighbouring commune is a good alternative.
The catchment area covers the whole canton: Schwyz, Ibach, Seewen and Steinen in the valley basin, Brunnen and Ingenbohl on Lake Lucerne, Arth and Goldau on Lake Zug, Küssnacht am Rigi, Einsiedeln, and Lachen, Altendorf and Siebnen in the March on the upper lake. Via the A4 and the Arth-Goldau junction, the region is about an hour from Zurich and Lucerne.
Why there is no shop
Premises on the main square in Schwyz would mean rent, staff and security, and those costs would have to be covered by the trading margin, which is to say by your offer. Uhrenkontor operates no sales floor. The partner dealers calculate their bid solely from the watch data and photographs and never receive your contact details.
The second reason is discretion. In Schwyz and the surrounding communes people know one another, and a shop visit with a valuable watch rarely goes unnoticed. An agreed appointment at a bank or at your home takes the place of that walk into a showroom. The inspection on the day usually takes less than half an hour.
How selling a watch in Schwyz works
- Describe the watch. Brand, model, reference number (the model number, usually on the case between the lugs), condition, what is included and at least three photographs, entered in the form at the top of this page. It takes about three minutes.
- Dealers bid. More than 25 partner dealers assess the anonymised enquiry. The highest bid is passed on as a binding offer within 12 hours on working days.
- Check the offer. Valid for several days, free and without obligation, subject to condition, authenticity and completeness matching the description.
- Handover and payment. A personal appointment in the canton of Schwyz, inspection of the watch, payment in cash, by bank transfer or by Twint.
What determines value and which routes to a sale exist is explained in the guide to selling a watch in Switzerland. Brand pages: sell a Rolex and sell an Omega.

Frequently asked
Selling a watch in Schwyz.
Do you also come to Brunnen, Küssnacht or Einsiedeln?
Yes. The handover in person is possible across the whole canton of Schwyz, including Brunnen, Ingenbohl, Steinen, Arth, Goldau, Küssnacht and Einsiedeln, as well as Lachen, Altendorf and Siebnen in the March. The appointment is arranged once you accept the offer, and travel costs you nothing.
Can I bring my watch in somewhere in Schwyz?
No, there is no shop and no address with opening hours in Schwyz. You describe the watch online with photographs, receive the best bid from more than 25 dealers within 12 hours on working days, and after accepting it arrange a personal appointment at a place of your choosing.
How soon can an appointment in Schwyz be arranged?
Usually within a few working days of your accepting the offer. The canton of Schwyz is core territory for Uhrenkontor, so appointments here can generally be set at short notice, including in the evening. The offer remains valid for several days, and you decide the time and the place.
Do you buy inherited watches and estates in Schwyz?
Yes, provided the watch has a market value of roughly CHF 3,000 or more. Vintage pieces, watches needing a service and watches without box or papers are valued too. With an estate containing several watches, submit each one separately with photographs so that each receives its own offer.
Are Küssnacht, Einsiedeln and Gersau municipalities or districts?
Both. Küssnacht, Einsiedeln and Gersau are districts that contain no further municipalities. Under § 3 para. 2 of the Schwyz Municipal Organisation Act, their district bodies also carry out the functions of the municipality. For selling a watch this changes nothing: the handover can take place in all three, and you choose the place.
Which municipalities belong to the district of Schwyz?
Fifteen: Schwyz, Arth, Ingenbohl, Muotathal, Steinen, Sattel, Rothenthurm, Oberiberg, Unteriberg, Lauerz, Steinerberg, Morschach, Alpthal, Illgau and Riemenstalden. Brunnen is not a municipality of its own but part of Ingenbohl. The handover can take place in any municipality of the district, including at your home. The appointment is arranged once you accept the offer.
Is Arth-Goldau in the canton of Schwyz?
Yes, although Arth-Goldau is not the name of a municipality. The municipality is called Arth; it belongs to the district of Schwyz and comprises the villages of Arth, Oberarth and Goldau and part of the Rigi. The name originally referred only to the station in Goldau, an important junction where the lines from Basel, Lucerne, Zurich and Ticino meet.
