Describe your Tudor in three minutes.
Selling a Tudor in Switzerland works best through a buyer who compares bids from several dealers, because demand differs markedly between models and generations. Value depends on the reference, the movement generation, condition, completeness and any remaining warranty. Black Bay and Pelagos are the most sought-after lines, and a full set with warranty card makes the sale easier.
Uhrenkontor is a platform of Solidas GmbH, entered in the commercial register of the canton of Schwyz with its registered office in Schindellegi SZ. Over 25 partner dealers across Switzerland assess your Tudor from watch data and photos, without seeing your contact details. On working days the highest bid reaches you within 12 hours as a binding offer, free of charge, without obligation and valid for several days.
What determines the value of a Tudor?
Black Bay generations
The Black Bay arrived in 2012, at first with a supplied ETA movement. Since 2016 it has carried the in-house calibre MT5602, in 2018 the smaller Black Bay Fifty-Eight followed with the MT5402, and from 2021 the first models such as the Black Bay Ceramic gained additional METAS certification as Master Chronometer. The reference number reveals the generation: dealers assess ETA models, MT56xx models and METAS models differently, even where they look similar from the outside.
In-house MT56xx calibres and COSC
The MT56xx family and its derivatives are COSC-certified chronometers with around 70 hours of power reserve and a silicon hairspring. Chronometer certification by the COSC, the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, confirms the rate accuracy of each individual movement.
Value-for-money reputation and the purchase threshold
Tudor was registered in 1926 as the more affordable sister brand of Rolex and still carries that reputation as a solid watch at a fair price. It also means that simpler models can fall below the market value of roughly CHF 3,000 from which Uhrenkontor purchases. Whether an older Tudor, a quartz model or a Royal lies above that line is decided case by case by the dealers.
Condition, accessories and remaining warranty
Tudor grants a multi-year warranty on new watches, and a card still running is a selling point. Dealers check bezel, case edges, bracelet and clasp, since many Tudor watches are worn as everyday and diving watches. A service before the sale is not necessary.
Which Tudor models are most in demand?
The Black Bay is by some distance the most sought-after line. It includes the Black Bay 41 with black or burgundy bezel, the compact Black Bay Fifty-Eight, the Black Bay GMT with its two-colour bezel, the Black Bay Chrono, and the Black Bay 54 and Black Bay Ceramic. Steel, bronze and two-tone versions are assessed separately.
The Pelagos is the technical diver's watch in titanium with a helium escape valve and the in-house calibre MT5612. The Pelagos 42, the Pelagos 39 and the Pelagos FXD each have their own audience; the left-hand drive version with the crown on the left is among the sought-after variants.
The Ranger was relaunched in 2022 as a plain 39 mm field watch with an in-house movement. It trades as an entry-level and everyday watch, where condition, remaining warranty and completeness of the set determine the bid. Older Ranger models from earlier decades count as collectors' pieces and are examined separately.
The Royal is the model with an integrated bracelet and a fluted bezel, available in several sizes since 2020. It sits at the lower end of the collection, and whether its market value lies above the purchase threshold is settled by the valuation.
How selling your Tudor works
- Fill in the form: In around 3 minutes you enter model, reference, condition, completeness and the warranty date and upload photos.
- Valuation by over 25 partner dealers: Dealers only ever see watch data and photos, never your contact details. On working days the highest bid reaches you within 12 hours as a binding offer.
- Decide without pressure: The offer is valid for several days, free of charge and without obligation. It applies subject to condition, authenticity and completeness matching your description.
- Handover in person and payment: Handover anywhere in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, for example at a bank branch, a notary's office, your workplace or your home. After the check, payment follows in cash, by bank transfer or by Twint, as you prefer. Where something differs, you receive an adjusted offer at no cost.
How to recognise a reputable buyer
A reputable buyer states the validity of the offer, the inspection procedure and the payment route in advance. With a Tudor that includes recognising the movement generation from the reference rather than valuing "a Black Bay" in general terms.
Check the company: a commercial register entry, a legal notice and a contactable address are the minimum standard. Private sales through classified platforms can bring more, but they carry the risk of fraud attempts with forged payment confirmations or requests to send the watch in advance.
Pay attention to the payment route. Payment should be traceable and documented: cash against a signed receipt and purchase contract, bank transfer or Twint. A handover at a bank branch or a notary's office protects both sides, and at a bank you can deposit cash straight away.
A comparison of the selling routes is set out in the guide to selling a watch in Switzerland and under how it works.

Selling a Tudor.
Can I sell my Tudor without box and papers?
Yes, Uhrenkontor buys Tudor watches without box and papers. The partner dealers check reference, serial number and movement from the photos and at handover. A warranty card with a legible purchase date and the original box make resale easier and are normally rated higher by dealers.
Does my Tudor need a service before I sell it?
No, a service before the sale is not necessary. Uhrenkontor also buys Tudor watches that are due for servicing, and the dealers take condition into account in their bid. An overhaul paid for yourself is rarely recovered in full on sale. Existing service records from Tudor should be included.
Do you buy vintage Tudor models such as the Submariner or Prince?
Yes, older Tudor models such as the Submariner, the Oysterdate or chronographs from the 1970s are purchased, provided the market value is above roughly CHF 3,000. Originality of dial, hands, bezel and movement is decisive. Describe in the form everything you know about the history of the watch.
How quickly do I receive an offer for my Tudor?
On working days you receive the highest bid from the over 25 partner dealers within 12 hours as a binding offer. It is valid for several days, free of charge and without obligation, and applies subject to condition, authenticity and completeness matching the description at handover.
Which Black Bay generation do I have and does it matter?
The reference number on the warranty card or between the lugs shows the generation. Models from 2016 carry the in-house calibre MT5602, the Fifty-Eight from 2018 the MT5402, and newer models are additionally METAS-certified. Dealers assess these generations differently, so give the full reference in the form.
Do I have to pay tax on the proceeds of my Tudor?
Capital gains on movable private assets are generally tax-free in Switzerland. It is different where the tax authority assumes commercial dealing, for example with frequent buying and selling. This is not legal or tax advice; if in doubt, ask your cantonal tax office or a fiduciary.
Why is the buying price for my Tudor lower than the prices on Chrono24?
Chrono24 shows asking prices, not achieved selling prices. Tudor listings often include nearly new watches with part of the manufacturer's warranty still running, and that is reflected in the price. Whether your watch is still under warranty also matters in the valuation. Whoever buys ties up capital, carries warranty, marketing and price risk, and needs a trading margin.
Why listing prices on Chrono24, Ricardo or Tutti sit above the buying price
